Hey @narae0.kim, I noticed the account I provided for finally logged in yesterday, can I just confirm this was you/your team? (I didn’t get any reply to my email).

The video was downloaded in Chrome rather than played back in the LG Jellyfin app. The point of providing access to Jellyfin was so you could reproduce the issue in the LG Jellyfin app. If you have your own means of reproducing and testing the issue, note that the video and other examples can downloaded from the sources provided above.

Does the system support bitstreaming raw uncompressed multichannel PCM 5.1/7.1 from a webOS app through eARC? In my testing is looks like it doesn’t work with the Jellyfin app, it gets downmixed to stereo instead: [WebOS client does not pass through LPCM 5.1/7.1 to eARC device · Issue #7093 · jellyfin/jellyfin-web · GitHub](https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-web/issues/7093) I’m using an LG G5 with latest firmware 33.20.69.

I recently got the WebOS 25 update of my G4. I can confirm that the issue is fixed with firmware 33.21.85. I can now bitstream encoded audio formats like DD or DTS via an HDMI eARC connection to my AV preprocessor.

Thank you very much!

as a end user owning a LG C2, waiting nearly a year for a fix is uncceptable
european laws (norwegian laws are even more strict) clearly states `within a reasonable time`

[Guarantees on goods bought in the EU - Your Europe](https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees/index_en.htm)

> Under EU rules, if the goods you buy turn out to be faulty or do not look or work as advertised, the seller must **repair or replace them at no cost**. **If this is impossible** or the seller cannot do it within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you, you are entitled to a **full or partial refund**. You always have the right to a **minimum 2-year guarantee** from the moment you received the goods. However, national rules in your country may give you extra protection.

updating the hls component thru webos app would been a much better way to fix it

Hi Team,

I would like to report a significant audio regression introduced in webOS 26 on the LG G6 (2026 model).

This appears to be the same issue that was widely discussed and eventually resolved in webOS 25, as documented in this thread. While webOS 25 restored proper multi-channel eARC passthrough for HLS streams, webOS 26 once again forces all multi-channel audio tracks to output as PCM 2.0 (stereo) when delivered through an HLS container.

When using media applications such as Jellyfin that rely on the native webOS media pipeline through HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), multi-channel audio streams (for example, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 or Dolby Atmos via DD+) are not handled correctly. The TV downmixes the audio to standard 2-channel stereo before transmitting it over HDMI eARC.

For apps such as Netflix and Apple TV, audio works as expected, with Dolby Atmos and proper multi-channel audio being passed through eARC to my soundbar.

**TV Model:** LG OLED G6 (2026)
**OS Version:** webOS 26 / 11.1.0-2707
**Audio Setup:** Soundbar connected via HDMI eARC (Digital Sound Output set to Pass Through)
**Software Version:** 43.10.69 (Latest Version) - No further updates available
**Dolby Vision:** 28.12

**Expected Result**

The TV should pass the encoded multi-channel bitstream (DD+ 5.1 / Atmos) directly to the external audio device over eARC, consistent with the behavior observed in the later webOS 25 releases and with other apps such as Netflix and Apple TV.

**Actual Result**

The connected sound system receives a PCM 2.0 (stereo) signal instead of the original multi-channel bitstream.

**Note:** The “Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos (via Audio Device)” banner still appears on the TV. However, the connected sound system only receives PCM 2.0 (stereo) rather than the original multi-channel audio stream.

Since the same content and workflow function correctly on webOS 25, it appears that a regression may have been introduced in the HLS media pipeline in webOS 26, specifically in the way adaptive audio streams interact with the eARC passthrough layer.

Could the webOS team please investigate this audio regression affecting 2026 models and provide a fix?

@narae0.kim @buletti

Hi @narae0.kim

Thanks for the update and for confirming that the issue has been identified.

It’s good to hear that a fix is planned. Do you happen to have a rough timeframe for when it might be released, or whether it’s already being worked on?

I do have to admit that it’s quite disappointing to encounter this on LG’s flagship 2026 OLED model, especially since the same issue had already been resolved on webOS 25 and now appears to have returned in webOS 26. Waiting until later this year for a fix is also frustrating given that it affects a core feature such as multi-channel audio passthrough over eARC.

I would also be happy to test any beta firmware if one becomes available before the public release.

Thanks again for the update, and I look forward to hearing more when additional information is available.
