Data Processing and Privacy for LG Built-in Speech-to-Text SDK

We are implementing a Voice Search feature in our webOS TV application and are currently evaluating LG’s built-in Speech-to-Text/voice recognition SDK for this functionality.

The expected flow is to capture voice input from the LG Magic Remote and use the SDK to obtain the recognized text, which will then be used by our application for search.

Before proceeding with the implementation, we need to understand the data flow and privacy implications of using the built-in SDK.

Could you please clarify:

  • Is the captured voice/audio processed entirely on the TV/device?
  • Or is the captured audio/voice data transmitted to LG or any third-party server for speech recognition?
  • If the data is transmitted, what information/audio data is sent and to which servers/services?
  • Where is the data processed?
  • Is the captured audio or any voice-related data stored/retained? If so, for how long?
  • Does the application need any additional user consent, permissions, or privacy configuration to use this functionality?
  • Is there any official documentation describing the data flow and privacy handling for this SDK?

This information is required for our privacy/security review before we include the implementation in a release for testing.
