Do I Need LG Permission to Publish a Remote Control App for LG TVs on Galaxy Store?

Hello developers,

I’m currently preparing to publish my app, Remote Control for LG TV, and I would like clarification regarding trademark and permission requirements.

The app is an independent remote control solution that connects to compatible LG TVs over WiFi. It does not use:

  • Official LG logos

  • LG proprietary graphics

  • Restricted SDKs

  • Copyrighted brand materials

The name only indicates compatibility (“for LG TV”) and does not imply official partnership or endorsement. I also include a clear disclaimer in the description stating that the app is not affiliated with or endorsed by LG Electronics.

The app communicates with TVs using publicly accessible network control capabilities supported by LG Smart TVs.

My question is:

Would explicit permission from LG Electronics be required to publish this type of compatibility based remote control app, provided that no protected branding or official claims are used?

I want to ensure full compliance with store and trademark policies before proceeding.

Thank you for any guidance.

LG Developer has never granted permission to 3rd parties to use the LG name, but there are already similar apps published in the store. Please contact the store and follow their guide. Thank you.
