in my webos application I’m drawing UI elements and subtitles over video content. However, my content comes out overly bright, when an HDR video is being displayed. The compositor seems to map my colors into HDR space at absurd brighness values.
I have seen that other players compensate for that by pre-multiplying with a guessed fraction when HDR content is being displayed. The values seem to be educated guesses, not based on any platform API.
What is the intended way of preventing this issue? Is there perhaps a way to influence the color mapping? Pre-multiplying would eliminate some color depth information. But if that is the intended way, can I somehow figure out by how much I should compensate?
