Centralized Management of WebOS TVs for Internal Digital Signage

Share information and tips or post questions regarding Web app dI have multiple LG webOS TVs connected within the same internal LAN network. Each TV is supposed to display specific dashboard content from a Vue.js web application.

My goal is to centrally manage and control all TVs remotely from my laptop, including:

  • pushing or updating dashboard URLs

  • restarting or refreshing the displayed app

  • monitoring whether a TV is online

  • checking if content is currently rendering correctly

  • remotely rebooting or recovering failed displays

  • assigning different content to different TVs

  • potentially scheduling content changes

My development environment is:

  • macOS on Apple Silicon locally

  • a Linux-based VM running inside the same internal network

  • Nginx reverse proxy setup

  • Vue.js frontend application

I want to understand the best architecture and tooling for this setup.

Specifically:

  • what is the best approach for managing multiple webOS TVs internally?

  • should I use webOS native apps, browser-based kiosk mode, or a dedicated signage solution?

  • how can I remotely communicate with and control the TVs over the LAN?

  • what protocols or APIs are commonly used for this?

  • how do enterprise digital signage systems typically solve monitoring and recovery?

  • what would be the most reliable setup for an always-on dashboard environment?development.

webOS TV is a consumer TV and is inappropriate for the purpose of displaying. If you need that feature, please consider LG commercial display. There are 2 types: webOS Signage and Pro:Centric. Thank you.
