we spotted a bug with EAC3 passthrough to a soundbar or external AVR related to the TV’s audio passthrough settings:
Video with EAC3 (no ATMOS) only passes through in passthrough mode, in automatic mode it is passed always as AC3.
Video with EAC3 (with ATMOS) does not passthrough ATMOS in passthrough mode (only normal EAC3, no ATMOS information). It only works correctly in automatic mode.
This is unexpected, whilst we can understand that normal EAC3 is not passed through in automatic mode, at least the ATMOS bits should be transferred in passthrough mode.
We have also confirmed the same behavior in the internal media player, netflix and amazon video.
